Logo setup prepares your design for embroidery. It’s a one-time step for a new logo or design, and it helps us make sure the finished stitching looks its best.
What is digitization?
Digitization turns your image into a stitch file: a roadmap that tells the embroidery machine where to stitch, how to stitch (satin fill, tatami fill, bean stitch, etc.), in what order, and with which thread colors. It takes more than uploading an image to a program.
Logo setup also includes choosing thread colors to match your design, testing the stitch file (making changes and re-testing as many times as needed), and fine-tuning the process before your project goes into production (tensions, stabilizer combinations, toppers, etc.).
Before we begin embroidering your products, we’ll send you a photo of your logo stitched on a sample for your approval. This gives you a chance to see how the design looks in thread before production begins.
Will I need logo setup?
- Submitting a logo or design to us for the first time? Yes, it will need to be prepared for embroidery.
- Reordering a design we’ve stitched for you before? No, we can use your existing stitch file as long as the design and size are the same.
- Using the same design in a different size? Possibly. A substantial size change may require a new stitch file and an additional setup fee. We’ll let you know when we review your project.
Will my design work for embroidery?
Simple shapes, clear lettering, and solid areas of color tend to translate best. Some artwork needs small adjustments to look its best in thread:
- Gradients and soft shadows: Thread uses distinct colors, so these may need to become solid color areas.
- Very fine lines or tiny details: These can lose definition when stitched and may need to be simplified.
- Brushstrokes, sketch effects, or faded edges: These may need cleaner, more defined shapes.
- Small lettering: Depending on its size and style, text may need to be enlarged or simplified to stay readable in thread.
Tell us what you have in mind and upload your logo through our Start Your Project form. We’ll review your design, let you know if any adjustments may help it stitch well, and send you a quote that includes any logo setup fee.
